Food Safety Supervisor
Food Safety Supervisor
As of October 1st 2011 food businesses within the Hospitality and Retail food sector will require at least one trained Food Safety Supervisor (FSS). This is a mandatory requirement in NSW for people involved in the sale, supply and service of supervisors in some food venues. Access Group Training (AGT) is able to deliver the units online. Upon successful completion students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and a Certified approval by the NSW Food Authority.
This course is to be completed at the participants own pace starting at ANY time but needs to be completed WITHIN 90 days of receiving your username and password. Once payment has been received and processed you will be emailed a user name and password. This could take around 48hours not including weekends or public holidays. Once you have completed the course you will be posted your certificates to the address provided on enrolment.
From 1 September 2015 to be certified as a FSS for any food premises in NSW and be issued a valid FSS certificate a person must attain required units of competency from an approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the FSS program. The units of competency must incorporate 3 key focus areas determined by the NSW Food Authority and published on its website:
· safe egg handling
· allergen management
· cleaning and sanitising practices.
FSS certificates expire 5 years from the date of issue, with the first round of certificates due to expire from 1 September 2015. The expiry date is printed on each certificate. Food businesses with an appointed FSS holding a FSS certificate due to expire from 1 September 2015 will need to enrol their FSS in recertification training with a RTO approved under the FSS program. Participants must enrol into the refresher FSS course within 90 days of their previous certificate expiring or they will have to resit the whole course. The participants must also supply us with a copy of their original FSS certificate.
Please download and print off the attached handout you should have on your premises after completion of this course to give you an indication about what to expect at a routine NSW Food Authority Inspection - Food Premises Assessment Report.
